The original Point Hueneme lighthouse opened the same day as Point Fermin to the south, using the same stick style archetecture. This original lighthouse was the first lighthouse ever to be moved from its original home when Port Hueneme was built in 1940. The current one-of-a-kind lighthouse was built in an Art Moderne style and still uses a Fresnel lens crafted in 1897. The U.S. Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Los Angeles and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary open the doors to the Point Hueneme Lighthouse on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the lighthouse is a wonderful example of an intact California lighthouse. |
